Manali Best Time to Visit – Kullu District – Places to Visit in Kullu. Manali is located in the Kulu District of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is a resort town settled in the mountainous region of Himachal Pradesh. It is 270 kms away from state capital that is Shimla. 

It is a small town having population of 8100 approx. It was an ancient trade route to Ladakh. The name Manali has been derived from Manu, Law Giver of Hindu religion.  It is believed that man appeared in Manali to recreate human beings after devastating flood in the world. It is situated on the north of the Kulu Valley. The place is regarded as ‘The Valley of Gods’. There is an ancient temple dedicated to Saga Manu.

Large number of apple orchids are found in Manali. Besides apple, plumb, peas too grow by the inhabitants in large quantity. It has become a main source of income to local people. It was Britishers who first started growing apple in the area. It becomes very cold in winter in Manali as the temperature drop upto -7 degree celcius. But during summer, it remains moderately cool. The best time to visit Manali is March – June.

Solang Valley

Solang Valley is 45 Kms away from Kullu, the district headquarters. Solang valley is a small hamlet in Naggar Tehsil of Kullu. Solang valley lies between Solang village and Beas Kund. It presents a beautiful view of glaciers and snowcapped mountains. It is located on a fine sky slopes so it is treated as a perfect place for skiing. During winter, the village is fully covered by snow. Paragliding can be enjoyed here which cost from 1000 – 5000 per person according to the longitivity of the game.

Rohtong Pass

Rohtong Pass is a high mountain pass which is 13,050 feet above sea level. It is situated on the Eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. Rohtong Pass is nearly 51 Kms away from Manali. It connects the Kulu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. The Pass is usually open from May to November. The name Rohtong is derived from Persian or Farsi words Ruh+tang which means piles of dead body.

It is named so because the number of people working in CBRE (Coldwell Bunker Richard Ellis) died while trying to cross the dangerous stretch. Here one can enjoy the view of mountain peaks and sprawling landscapes and view. The mangificence of the white landscape and pin drop silence is a mesmerizing thing worth experiencing. It is the only pass which remains snow covered throughout the year.

Places to Visit in Kullu – Adventure activities in Manali :

Rafting – It is treated as one of the best adventure activities in Manali. Rafting is a team game as it performed with great synchronization among a group of person. It is thrilling to navigate the fury rapid follow water of the river. 

Biking – Biking in Manali one needs a physical endurance and mental strength. Passing by the picturic places like touring mountain, green field and magestic waterfalls is a great and exciting experience to the tourist to be felt. 

Skiing – The snow covered environment gives an ample opportunity to the tourist to sky down the snowy slope with great speed. There are snowy slopes generally smooth with a long stretch of land which is a prefect to ski for both amature and professional.

Paragliding – Solang Valley is a perfect place for paragliding. Here snowcapped mountains and a good number of lush streams give a lot of fun to the paragliders.

Trekking – Manali is treated as a base camp for organising trekking in different areas. From here, trekkers go to Chanderkhani Pass, Hampta Pass, Beas Kund Trek, Sar Pass Trek and also a very beautiful Bhrigu Lake Trek.
