Coorg is the one of the most well-known Hill station located in the Karnataka, it is also known as ‘The Scotland of India’, beyond its natural landscape, it is also known for its coffee plantation and spices, rich in flora and fauna, evergreen Valleys, forest, misty hills, lush green valleys . It occupies an area of 4,102 square kilometres (1,584 sq mi) in the south western That’s of southwest Karnataka. This district is one of the smallest yet most attractive place in the state of Karnataka.

1) Raja’s Seat:

Raja’s Seat which means ‘Seat of the King’s’ is the one of the popular tourist spots. This place is called Raja’s Seat because it was the place where Coorg’s kings used to visit and enjoy the sun setting with their queens. The sun set and sun rise make the place more breathtaking and mesmerized. It is the perfect place to relax and admire the beauty of the lush greenery. It also has a wonderful park with a Gandhi Mantap to its left. Gandhi Mantap is the place where the remains of Mahatma Gandhi has been kept.

2) Abbey Falls:

Abbey Falls is located in Kodagu which is located 8km away from Madikeri. The waterfall is emerged with the early reacher of the Kaveri River. It is located between private coffee and spices plantations. A hanging bridge is also constructed opposite the falls , and the view from the waterfall is the main attraction for the tourist.

Asthe area is surrounded by the rich flora and fauna it has became the centre of attraction for the natrue lovers. So, this place near Medikeri is not to be missed when you are planning a trip to Coorg. 

3) Tibetan Monastery/ Golden Temple Coorg:

The Golden Temple Coorg also known as the Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery is the largest teaching center of the Tibetan Buddhism in the world. This place is located in the Bylakuppe a district of Mysore in Karnataka, it is 34kms away from Coorg you can use buses and cabs as a mode of transportation.

The small Tibetan colony established in here is a calm and majestic far away from the city life and the spiritual atmosphere of the place welcomes all the visitors. These place is the second largest Tibetan settlement in India after Dharamsala.

The major attraction of this place is the architecture of the Golden Temple with 40 feet high gold covered statues of Guru Padmasambhava ( also known as Guru Rinpoche) , Buddha Sakyamunj and Amitayus. The walls are painted beautifully depicting the character from the Tibetan Buddhist Mythology. You can also find shopping centres where you can get Traditional Tibetan items. 

4) Madikeri Fort:  

Madikeri Fort also known as Mercara Fort is also one of the the interesting place for sightseeing in Coorg. In the Kodagu district of Karnataka, it was build by Mudduraja in the last quarter of 17th Century. It was later rebuild by Tipu Sultan and named it Jaffarabad , this construction was followed by Lingarajendra Wodeyar II . The  temple, church, prison, museum and library all together built in together attracts a huge amount of tourist mainly history lovers. 

It is one of the best place to visit in Coorg and to witness the lives, rises and fall of several dynasty and rulers. The places also has a sculpture of a tortoise with the statue of king Vijayarajendra engraved on it. Two life- size stone replica’s big elephants draws the attention of the visitors.

5) Dubare Elephant Camp :

 Dubare Elephant Camp is Jungle Lodge and Resort Ltds located in the riverbank of Kaveri. The Dubare Elephant Camp is a must experience for the elephants lovers. This place is located in Kodagu district in Karnataka.

 At the Dubare Elephant Camp, a visitor can simply spend hours watching elephants and learning about them. Apart from observing and learning they an also participate into various activities like feeding and bathing elephants. 

Apart from elephants, Dubare Elephant Camp is also famous for many beautiful flora and fauna.
